I truly enjoyed this book. It was easy to read and well written. I know the author, so that was the main reason I purchased it. I am glad I did. I learned things I did not know about the Monarchs,and intend to participate in helping them. The author treated the subject of bullying with grace and dignity and not with anger and retaliation. It is a very real issue with our youth, and too much violence is spawned by wrong handling. It is my hope that this lovely book finds its way into schools, for a valuable lesson lies therein. I intend to save it to read to my grandchildren when they are older.Product details

I read this book with my seven year old son and we both enjoyed it. It touches on so many important subjects - dealing with bullies, single parenting, dealing with loss, & conservation efforts for the Monarch Butterfly. I'd highly recommend this book!
As a parent, Aunt and avid book reader, I was so excited to read this! What a wonderful and touching story that anyone can relate to. You don't have to be a parent to understand this and love it! I not only bought a copy for myself, but sent a copy to my nephews who are the same age as the character, Kaden. It was easy to read and understand for any age. There were many valuable lessons to learn from this book. Thank you Marjorie for sharing this amazing story and your obvious talents as an author!
Kaden and his dad have answered so many questions that I did not even know I had. I was glad to find out what I - or any person - could do in the face of bullying. I have also become more sensitive to instances of adult bullying. If every person who reads this book would recommend it to their friends and neighbors, perhaps there would be more informed individuals willing to "stand up" for others. I love to think that there could be a kinder and safer world for everyone because of the information that they received from the story of Kaden and his dad.
This is a marvelous little book on three levels. First, it is story about bullying which is becoming so pervasive in our culture. Young children will be able to identify with Kaden's dilemma and learn that there are solutions for their problem of being bullied. Second, it is encouragement for all parents but especially for single parents who can be overwhelmed by so many responsibilities. The book provides resources so that parents can learn how to help their child deal with bullying. It also provides discussion questions for each chapter so parents and children can learn how to think more deeply about life's struggles. Third, the book incorporates a wonderful true story about the love of a Monarch butterfly and the problems that all Monarchs face finding adequate breeding and habitat areas. While the book was written for fourth, fifth and sixth graders, it is a wonderful read for any age. Hats off to M. L. Clayton.
You will love this heartwarming story about a father and son who find strength they probably didn't know they had, and take care of some issues that were not easy go deal with. Together they enjoy time together creating a wonderful butterfly garden, then sharing it with others. Makes you want to rush to plant a garden.
